All artwork on this site is © Laura Whent unless where otherwise stated. It is not to be redistributed, posted, altered, modified, maimed, defaced or otherwise used without the express written permission of the artist. This means that the artwork may not be used in whole or in part on any webpage, forum, chatroom, journal or other means of distribution without the artist's permission. Under no circumstances is it to be printed and redistrubuted, or used by any means (ie, tattoos, t-shirts, etc) unless permission is granted. In the case of the trade/guest art section, the copyrights are held by the individual artist, and if you wish to use the art for any reason, consent from the artist of the given piece is to be obtained, as well as Laura's as the artwork portrays one or more of her characters.

In connection with what's already been stated, under no circumstances is any artwork to be used as character portraits, icons, user pics, avatars or anything else. A good deal of the artwork portrays characters created by the artist or her friends, and it isn't desirable to have clones of those characters running around, or somebody using one of the characters to portray their own character. Altering the artwork to suit your needs is not allowed either, as it infringes on copyright law. Colouring or altering an image does not make it yours. If you really want a custom character portrait, commission one, don't take the artwork from this site.

What is allowed is that you can save a copy of the images to your harddrive or use them as desktop wallpaper so long as they remain whole and unaltered. You may also print out a single copy for yourself, no more. If you really like the art though, it is recommended that you support the artist and buy a print.

Character/Worlds Information

Anyone is welcome to draw Laura Whent's characters, as long as they follow a few rules. In any case, the artist would appreciate a scan of any images of her characters so it can be placed in the trades section of the site. If you wish to draw one of Laura's characters and plan on selling the image or making prints of it, be sure to ask permission first. If you want to draw one of Laura's characters in a questionable or adult situation, ask permission first. Hugging, playful teasing (within character) and everyday situations are fine. As a general rule, if you wouldn't want it done by someone else to your character (or even if you do), don't do it to Laura's.

Under no circumstances are any of Laura's characters to be "borrowed" to used on IRC, MU*s, etc. For the costume-inclined, this also extends to fursuiting and cosplaying.

If you wish to write a story involving one of Laura's characters, chances are you won't be granted permission. Inquiries are welcome, but be prepared to explain in detail why the character is in the story, what his or her role is, how he or she is going to be portrayed, and he or she is going to be doing, etc.

Any worlds that Laura's characters and stories are set in are closed to other writers, with the exception of the world of the Gemstone Phoenixes, which is open to only the creators of the Gemstone Phoenixes themselves. Don't bother to ask, as the answer will be no.
